Rihanna and Bruno Mars Hit 1 Billion Views on YouTube
This week has been a big week for YouTube. Two major artists have had their videos hit 1 billion views. Rihanna and Bruno Mars hit the 1 billion views mark each with their own video. Rihanna “Work” featuring Drake and Bruno Mars “24K Magic”. However, this is Mars’ fifth video to hit the milestone. “24K Magic” puts the singer directly behind the top spot for most videos in the 1 Billion views club. Most noteworthy, he is also tied with Colombian singer Maluma in this regard. Justin Bieber leads the pack with six entries. Bruno Mars previous billion-view videos were as follows; Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk”, “That’s What I Like”, “The Lazy Song” and “Just the Way You Are”.
Rihanna and Bruno Mars are no strangers to setting records in the music industry and are within elite company. Additionally, for Rihanna, “Work” puts her in a tie with Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj. Each of the aforementioned lead women with the most billion-view videos with four. Most noteworthy, this is surprisingly Drake’s second video to reach the 1 billion milestone. His other was “Hotline Bling”. Rihanna’s previous billion-view videos are Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For”, Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie” and “Diamonds’.
It will be interesting to see which musicians reach this milestone next. Rihanna and Bruno Mars will certainly find themselves here again. However, it is unlikely that it will happen again on the same week.
