Post Malone Wow. Replaces Himself at Number 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart
Post Malone Wow. kicks Sunflower out of the top spot as Post becomes the 14th artist to unseat themselves in the chart’s history. Furthermore, “Wow.” rises from 2-1 to replace “Sunflower (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse)” on the most recent ranking. Sunflower is a collaboration with Swae Lee and has dominated for 11 nonconsecutive weeks, dipping to the number 2 spot. Most noteworthy, Wow ascends following the first full tracking week of the new music video for the song. The video helped the song climb to over 35 million U.S. streams in the past week. This is according to Nielsen Music which shows a 15 percent jump from the previous week. Additionally, these new streams help Post Malone Wow. rise from 3 to 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs. This is a new peak for the track.
However, on other charts, Post Malone retains the number 1 spot on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales for a third straight week. “Wow.” has been downloaded 23,000 times in the week ending in March 28th. It’s also worth mentioning that the song maintains an upward trajectory on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, rising from 16 to 14 in its 11th week on the list. Additional insight shows the song climbs 4 percent to 11.7 million in audience. In addition to its high rankings, Post Malone Wow. ties “Psycho” as Post Malone’s third-highest charting song on the radio ranking. The songs only trail “Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage which scored two weeks at the top in 2017 and “White Iverson” which landed at number 8 in 2015.
Lastly, as “Wow.” pushes past “Sunflower” on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Malone has become the 14th artist to take the top spot from themselves since the chart began in 1958. Last year Travis Scott completed this feat as he secured the 13th artist to do so with “Sicko Mode” over “ZEZE”.
