Marc Anthony Lands 11th Top 10 on Top Latin Albums Chart
Marc Anthony has landed his 11th top 10 on the top Latin Albums chart as “Opus” jumps to number 2. The album is the artists 13th studio effort. Furthermore, opening with 9,000 equivalent album units earned in its first week, according to Nielsen Music. This is the fifth-largest debut for a Latin album released in 2019. Additionally, of that sum of 9,000 – 6,000 were in traditional album sales. This is the third largest sales week for a Latin album this year. Marc only follows the first weeks of Luis Fonsi’s “Vida” and Romeo Stantos “Utopia”.
“Opus” was released May 10th via Sony Music Latin and produced by Sergio George. Especially relevant, the album starts at number 1 on the Latin Album Sales and Tropical Albums charts. It’s worth mentioning that based on “Opus” landing at number on Top Latin Albums, this is the highest debut for Marc Anthony since June 2010. The previous release that found itself on top of the chart was his album “Iconos” at number 1.
Most notably, upon the arrival of “Opus”, Marc Anthony now places two albums on the Top Latin Albums chart. The second album being referenced here is Marc’s former number 1, “3.0”, at number 47. This album debuted in early August 2013. Additionally, the album hits a landmark 250th week on the charts, extending its record as the title with the most weeks on the list. Not bad.
Furthermore, “Opus” takes the top spot on the Topical Albums chart which marks Anthony’s ninth number 1 on the chart itself. However, it is also the highest debut since July 2006 when “Sigo Siendo Yo” arrived at number 1. Marc can also boast two songs on the Tropical Songs airplay chart. “Tu Vide En La Mia”, the first single which peaked at number 1 back in March and “Parecen Viernes” which is currently number 4 on the chart.
