Lil Tecca Scores First Streaming Songs Number 1 With Ransom
It has been three weeks since the New York rapper landed his first top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Now, Lil Tecca can add the number one spot on the Streaming Songs chart with “Ran$om”. The track moves from 2 to 1 on the Streaming Songs chart dated this week. Of the sum, 52.3 million streams were recorded, boosted 21% from a previous period. These numbers are tracked and reported by Nielsen Music. Furthermore, the boost in streaming comes after the debut of a new official remix. The remix was released on August 16th and features Juice WRLD, this in addition to the songs continued momentum in popularity over the past few months sends him to the top.
Most noteworthy, it becomes no surprise that “Ran$om” has become Lil Tecca’s first Streaming Songs leader as it is his debut on the chart. Additionally, he is the third artist to lead the Streaming Songs with his first title to chart following Lil Nas X and Jonas Brothers. Especially relevant, with the rise of “Ran$om”, “Old Town Road” has been released from its Streaming Songs rule which lasted for 20 weeks. That is the longest-running number 1 in the history of the chart which began in 2013. Previously, the longest record was held by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber with the world-wide smash, “Despacito”.
However, Lil Tecca is not done yet. The rapper also breaks into the top five of the Hot 100 with “Ran$om”. Furthermore, his latest release “Did It Again” comes in at number 100. Not bad for a 17-year old kid from Queens. It should be interesting to see how he moves forward in his career and we will be watching.
