Dolly Parton Lands First Number 1 on Dance/Electronic Chart
Country legend Dolly Parton has teamed up with the Swedish DJ/Production duo Galantis. Furthermore, the team is enhanced by a feature from Dutch vocalist Mr Probz. Their track “Faith” debuts on top of Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart. Faith has sold 4,000 downloads in its first week, according to reports from Nielsen Music. Perhaps most noteworthy, Galantis and Parton both notch their first number 1 each on this list. However, Mr. Probz adds his second, he originally led the chart with “Waves” in 2014-15. Additionally, “Faith” is Galantis first number 1 on a dance/electronic songs chart. Previously, their album Pharmacy debuted at number 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums back in June of 2015.
It is no secret though that Dolly Parton is no stranger to the charts. Having made her first Billboard chart appearance nearly 53 years ago on the Hot Country Songs chart with her debut hit “Dumb Blonde”. Especially relevant, this is Dolly’s first appearance on a chart in the dance/electronic genre since her cover of Cat Stevens’ “Peace Train” hit number 23 on Dance Club Songs in 1997. Other charted Dance Club Songs for Parton are as follows, “Baby I’m Burnin’”/”I Wanna Fall in Love” at number 15 in 1979. “9 to 5”/”House of the Rising Sun” at number 77 in 1981. And “Potential New Boyfriend” at number 14 in 1983.
Throughout her legendary career, Dolly Parton boasts 25 number 1s between 1971 and 2006 on Hot Country Songs. Most recently making an appearance on the chart alongside Sia with “Here I Am”, a song that hit number 37 in September 2018.
It should be interesting to watch the charts in the coming week to see how the song continues to perform. We are sure this won’t be Dolly’s last appearance on the charts in her career.
