6lack Hits the Top 5 on R&B Albums Chart with ‘6pc’
For the second time in his career, 6lack finds himself in the top five on the Top R&B Albums chart. His latest effort, “6pc Hot”, debuts in the number two spot. This is a 6 song EP and is released via LVRN and Interscope. Furthermore, the first week’s numbers are showing about 26,000 units. This data is tracked and reported by Nielsen Music. Most noteworthy, the artist has found himself in the top five once before. His previous album, East Atlanta Love Letter, released in 2018, held down the top spot for 2 weeks in September of that year. However, his debut album, “Free 6lack” only found its way to number 6 in May of 2017.
In addition to the album finding success on the charts, quite a few songs are charting as well. Four songs from the EP have charted on the Hot R&B Songs chart. “Outside” lands in the number 25 spot, “Elephant in the Room” at 20, “Long Nights” at number 13, and “Float” at 12. Especially relevant, 6lack can now boast the accomplishment of having 17 total entries on a Billboard chart. However, there is an additional song charted that has not been mentioned.
“Know My Rights” featuring Lil baby has debuted at number 33 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. This is the fourth song for the artist and is only one spot behind a personal best at 32. That achievement came from the “OTW” collaboration with fellow singers Ty Dolla $ign and Khalid in July 2018. Most noteworthy, the Lil Baby collaboration is the highest streamed song from the EP. In addition to streams, the song is also the top seller. With 2,000 downloads in its first week, the song generated 7.5 million U.S. streams during the same timeframe. Whether or not the success of the song can be attributed to Lil Baby’s current hot streak – that will be determined soon.
