DaBaby Aiming for Top Spot Again on Billboard 200 Chart
In less than a year since his last release, DaBaby is moving toward the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Music industry experts forecast that the latest release, “Blame It on Baby” may arrive on top of next week’s chart with over 140,000 equivalent album units earned. These stats are for the first week ending April 23rd. Most noteworthy, the majority of that total is byway of streaming for the 13-track album. Furthermore, “Blame It on Baby” was released via SouthCoast/Interscope Records on Friday, April 17th. Baby’s previous album “Kirk” debuted at number 1 in October with 145,000 equivalent album units earned. These numbers are tracked and reported by Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Especially relevant, The Billboard 200 chart uses multi-metric consumption to rank the most popular albums of the week. These numbers are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums, and streaming equivalent albums. If DaBaby does in fact take over the top spot on next week’s Billboard 200, he will displace The Weeknd’s After Hours from the top spot after four straight week on top. That is a great feat for the Charlotte rapper and should be something to watch.
With plenty of buzz around the album, “Blame It on Baby” can attribute some of its success to the featured appearances. Features such as Future and jetsonmade on “LIGHTSKIN SH*T”, Roddy Ricch on “Rockstar”, and Quavo on “Pick Up”. Other well-known features are Megan Thee Stallion and Ashanti on “Nasty”, NBA YoungBoy on “Jump” which just released a music video and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and London On Da Track on “Drop”. However, the album is led by “Find My Way” which samples Marshmello and Anne-Marie’s 2018 pop smash “FRIENDS”. Keep an eye on the charts to see how DaBaby continues to do in the coming weeks.
