Hot 100 Chart Moves: This Week in Music

Hot 100 Chart Moves: March 30, 2018

As we look at the Billboard Hot 100 charts for the week dated March 31, we will see some new records finding their way in and others rebounding back to the top 40. Let’s have a look at what songs are placing and where.

Drake’s “God’s Plan” tops the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a ninth week at number one. When the song was released it debuted at the top of the charts. Meanwhile, Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be” featuring Bebe Rexha pushes from number four up to number two. This makes the song the highest charting Hot 100 hit by a country duo or group in over eight years!

Two artists have earned their first Hot 100 top 10s. XXXTentacion with his song “Sad!” and Lil Dicky’s “Freaky Friday”. XXXTentacion’s song jumps from number 19 up to number 7. As for Lil Dicky’s body-switching spoof song with Chris Brown debuts at number 9.

Let’s look at who else is making noise on the Hot 100 charts.

Hot 100 Chart: Marshmello & Anne-Marie

Marshmello & Anne-Marie recently released their song, “Friends”. The collaboration climbs from 41 to 28 on the Hot 100. “Friends” marks Marshmello’s fourth top 40 hit and Anne-Marie’s second. Worth noting, “Friends” also flies from 29 to 24 on Streaming Songs, up 22 percent to 16.5 Million U.S. streams in the week ending March 22. According to Nielsen Music, the song also gains by 16 percent to 18 million in airplay audience and 4 percent to 10,000 downloads sold.

Marshmello hit a high of number 20 with his song “Wolves” featuring Selena Gomez in December. Later that month his song “Silence” featuring Khalid hit number 30. Furthermore, his song “Everyday” featuring Logic hit number 29.

Anne-Marie is not a rookie to the charts either. In March of 2017, Anne-Marie featured on Clean Bandit’s smash record, “Rockabye,” which made it as far as Number 9.
