Olivia Rodrigo continued the rollout for her highly anticipated third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl

Olivia Rodrigo continued the rollout for her highly anticipated third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, with a captivating performance of stupid song on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on June 11.

The appearance marked the world television premiere of the fan-favorite track and came just one night after Rodrigo performed another album standout, the cure, on the late-night program.

For stupid song, Rodrigo traded spectacle for simplicity. Seated behind a piano and backed by a full band and supporting vocalists, she delivered an intimate rendition that allowed the song’s emotional core to shine through. Dressed in a white T-shirt, light pink skirt and black boots, the singer focused entirely on the performance, showcasing the powerful vocals that have become a hallmark of her live appearances.

One of the standout moments came during the song’s soaring chorus, where Rodrigo effortlessly hit the track’s demanding high notes, drawing praise from fans across social media shortly after the broadcast aired.

stupid song appears on You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, which was released at midnight following the performance. The album follows Rodrigo’s chart-dominating success with SOUR and GUTS and includes the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 single drop dead.

During her interview with Jimmy Kimmel the night before, Rodrigo revealed the surprisingly wholesome method she used to determine the album’s early singles. The singer explained that she gathered her extended family during Thanksgiving in Wisconsin and played the entire album for them before asking everyone to vote on their favorite tracks.

“I turned the lights off really low because I was really shy,” Rodrigo told Kimmel. “I was so nervous to see their faces while they heard the songs for the first time.”

After collecting ballots from family members, one clear favorite emerged.

“Everyone liked The Cure the most,” she said. “That was the No. 1 that we got.”

The television performance arrives as Rodrigo prepares to launch her upcoming Unraveled Tour, a massive 65-date arena run that will visit North America, Europe and the United Kingdom later this year. The tour is scheduled to begin Sept. 25 at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut.

With the world TV premiere of stupid song, Rodrigo offered fans another glimpse into the emotional depth and maturity of her latest album, proving once again why she remains one of pop music’s most compelling young storytellers.
