Spotify Launches New Reserved Ticket Feature in the U.S. With Live Nation Partnership, Starting With Role Model

Spotify is taking a major step into the live events space with the official launch of Reserved, a new ticketing feature designed to give an artist’s biggest fans early access to concert tickets.
The feature officially debuts in the United States on June 18 through a multi-year partnership with Live Nation, with indie-pop artist Role Model becoming the first act to participate in the program.
Under Reserved, eligible Spotify Premium subscribers will receive notifications informing them that up to two tickets have been set aside specifically for them ahead of the general public on-sale. For Role Model’s upcoming tour dates, fans will be able to purchase their tickets beginning June 23.
Unlike traditional presales, Spotify says Reserved will use a dedicated ticket inventory rather than pulling from existing allotments. The company will identify an artist’s most engaged listeners through a combination of streaming behavior, including saves, shares, listening history and long-term engagement.
Spotify’s Senior Vice President and Global Head of Music, Charlie Hellman, said the company intentionally built the feature into the standard Premium subscription instead of placing it behind a more expensive membership tier.
“This felt to us like such a core thing that all music fans would really value, that it’s something that’s best in our Premium subscription,” Hellman said.
The launch also marks a strategic evolution for Spotify’s growing presence in live entertainment. After experimenting with direct ticket sales through Spotify Tickets in 2022 and scaling back those efforts in 2024, the company is now focusing on leveraging its data while relying on established ticketing partners.
Spotify says one of the primary goals of Reserved is to combat ticket scalping by ensuring tickets reach genuine fans rather than professional resellers. Eligibility will be monitored for suspicious activity, and the company is intentionally keeping parts of its selection process private to prevent abuse of the system.
The platform already has a significant influence on the live music industry. According to Spotify, its concert discovery tools have helped drive more than $1.5 billion in ticket sales globally. Additionally, the company says that the top 2% of an artist’s monthly listeners, whom it refers to as “super listeners,” account for approximately 50% of all ticket purchases made through Spotify.
The feature was first introduced during Spotify’s 2026 Investor Day as part of the company’s broader vision of evolving beyond a streaming platform and becoming a larger media ecosystem that connects artists and fans in new ways.
The launch arrives during another milestone period for Spotify. The company recently announced that it has now paid more than $70 billion to the music industry throughout its history, including over $11 billion in 2025 alone, which it says represents the largest annual payment to the music business by any retailer.
For now, Reserved will roll out gradually, focusing on newly announced tours from select artists throughout the summer. Spotify says the program will eventually expand to artists at every stage of their careers, further strengthening the connection between streaming and live music experiences.
As competition among streaming platforms continues to evolve, Spotify’s latest move signals that the future of music may extend far beyond simply pressing play.
