Ariana Grande has scored another worldwide chart triumph as her latest single, Hate That I Made You Love Me, launches at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. rankings.
The song, released May 29 as the lead single from her upcoming album Petal, generated 63.4 million streams and sold 81,000 downloads worldwide during its opening week, according to Luminate.
The achievement gives Grande her fifth No. 1 on the Global 200 and fourth leader on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, further solidifying her status as one of the streaming era’s most dominant global stars.
Before Hate That I Made You Love Me, Grande topped the Global 200 with We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love), Yes, And?, Save Your Tears with The Weeknd, and Positions. On Global Excl. U.S., her previous chart-toppers included We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love), Yes, And? and Positions.
The debut also serves as a strong launchpad for Petal, Grande’s highly anticipated eighth studio album, which is scheduled for release on July 31.
Elsewhere on the Global 200, Drake’s Janice STFU slips to No. 2 after opening with two weeks at the summit, while Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean remains at No. 3 following its recent return to No. 1. Olivia Rodrigo’s The Cure falls to No. 4, while BTS’s Swim rounds out the top five.
On the Global Excl. U.S. chart, Swim drops to No. 2 after an impressive eight-week reign, followed by Billie Jean at No. 3. Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj’s Beauty and a Beat slips to No. 4, while JENNIE and Tame Impala’s Dracula falls to No. 5.
Meanwhile, South Korean quartet aespa earns another international milestone as Lemonade debuts at No. 8 on Global Excl. U.S. The track accumulated 21.4 million streams and 16,000 sales outside the United States during its first week, becoming the group’s fourth top 10 hit on the chart.
With Hate That I Made You Love Me opening atop both global rankings, Ariana Grande once again demonstrates her worldwide reach, giving her upcoming Petal era a powerful start as anticipation continues to build toward the album’s July release.
