Banda El Recodo Scores 20th No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay With “Solo Tú”

Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga opens 2026 with a major milestone, as “Solo Tú” rises from No. 4 to No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart dated Jan. 24. The achievement marks the legendary group’s 20th career leader on the chart.

Released Oct. 31 via El Recodo/FONO/UMLE, “Solo Tú” is a banda reinterpretation of Camilo Sesto’s classic, originally featured on the Spanish singer’s 1976 album Memorias. With the new crown, El Recodo becomes the fifth act in the chart’s history to reach at least 20 No. 1s since the ranking launched in 1994.

The song earns the week’s Greatest Gainer honors after surging 39% in audience impressions, reaching 7.2 million in the United States during the tracking week ending Jan. 15, according to Luminate. The rise also secures FONO its second No. 1 of 2026, replacing itself atop the chart. Last week’s leader, “Una Noche Contigo” by La Arrolladora Banda El Limón and Juanes, slips from No. 1 to No. 3 following a 12% decline in impressions.

With its latest chart-topper, Banda El Recodo now ties closer to the all-time leaders on Regional Mexican Airplay. Only Calibre 50 with 27 No. 1s, Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga with 22, and Intocable and La Arrolladora Banda El Limón with 21 each sit ahead of the group. Los Tigres del Norte follow with 18, while Christian Nodal has earned 17 chart-toppers.

“Solo Tú” also becomes just the second song with that title to reach No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart. The first was Calibre 50’s unrelated hit, which ruled for five weeks in 2020.

The track is set to appear on Banda El Recodo’s upcoming album Madre de Todas Las Bandas, which has yet to receive an official release date.
