Hoodie SZN Returns to Number 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart
In a slow week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie reclaims the throne with Hoodie SZN. For a third nonconsecutive week the High Bridge rapper finds himself on top of the chart again. The album rises from 3 to 1 and earns 47,000 equivalent album units in the week ending February 7th. According to Nielsen Music, these numbers are down 1 percent. Most noteworthy, the album previously led the list on charts dated January 19th and January 26th. Furthermore, The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums, and streaming equivalent albums. For the February 16th dated chart, Hoodie SZN will return to number one.
A Boogie’s album’s chart fortunes are powered mostly by streaming activity. Most noteworthy, of the 47,000 units from the tracking week, 45,000 were streaming album units which equals out to 68.4 million on-demand audio streams. Additionally, the remaining overall units were from track equivalent album units which is about 1,000 and album sales of less than 1,000. Benefiting from a slow time of year, Hoodie SZN trumps its own record for the smallest weekly album sales total of a number 1 on the Billboard 200. At least since the chart flipped from an album sales-only list to multi-metric consumption back in December 2014.
