Kendrick Lamar continues to earn acclaim for his massive hit album “DAMN.” Since it’s release in March, the album has already claimed the top spot on Billboard’s Best Selling list, and the single “HUMBLE” has been certified platinum in nearly record speed. The countless awards keep coming, as Kendrick Lamar’s work has received 8 nominations for this year’s Video Music Awards, leading the field total nominations.
The nominations include Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, and Best Hip Hop Song. Kendrick will compete against Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Lorde for the coveted Artist of the Year award. The Artist of the Year award is new this year, and is a combination of the previous top awards for Best Male videos and Best Female Videos. The viral music video for “HUMBLE” has received six nominations on it’s own, including best hip-hop video, cinematography, direction, art direction, visual effects and choreography.
MTV will host the 2017 VMAs on August 27th, at 8pm PST.
