Lil Nas X Tops Billboard Hot 100 for Fifth Week
Lil Nas X tops the Billboard Hot 100 for a fifth week with his country trap song “Old Town Road”. The track has a remix that features Billy Ray Cyrus. Most noteworthy, the song fends off Taylor Swift’s latest release, “Me!”, featuring Brand Urie from Panic! At the disco. Furthermore, it’s worth mentioning that Taylor Swift made the biggest vault in the charts history jumping from number 100 to number 2 after it’s debut a week earlier. However, this is based solely on its first three days of airplay before streaming and sales are factored into its current rank.
Additionally, Taylor Swift’s “Me!” has sold 193,000 downloads in the tracking week. These numbers are reported by Nielsen Music. Especially relevant, this is the best sum for any song since Taylor’s own “Look What You Made Me Do” back in 2017.
More on the Hot 100, Lil Nas X and his song paves the way on top of the Streaming Songs chart for a fifth week with 104 million U.S. streams, down 9%. Furthermore, this sum includes the song’s new remix with Diplo, that was released on April 29th. “Old Town Road” set the weekly streaming record following the April 5th arrival of its remix with Billy Ray Cyrus and now claims four of the six biggest streaming weeks ever.
While “Road” continues to dominate, the song dropped to number 2 on the Digital Song Sales chart after three weeks at number 1, boasting a cool 78,000 sold (down 12%) last week. Regarding radio play, Lil Nas X continues to do well. Most noteworthy, the country trap artist scores his first Radio Songs top 10 in his visit to the chart while Cyrus ascends to the tier for the first time in nearly 27 years after his first entry. However, for X, he charted in the top 10 in only his fourth week. Worth mentioning, “Old Town Road” is collecting its fifth week on top of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts.
