Lil Uzi Vert Scores First Hot Rap Songs No. 1 in Three Years With “What You Saying”

Lil Uzi Vert returns to the top of Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs chart as “What You Saying” rises to No. 1 on the list dated Jan. 17. The Cor(e) and Roc Nation release jumps from No. 2 in its debut week to become the rapper’s third career chart topper on the ranking.

Streaming is driving nearly all of the song’s momentum. During the Jan. 2 through Jan. 8 tracking period, “What You Saying” generated 11.9 million official on demand streams in the United States, a 23 percent increase from the previous week’s 9.7 million total, according to Luminate. That figure pushes the track to No. 1 on the Rap Streaming Songs chart. The song also logged 853,000 radio audience impressions, marking a 300 percent jump as its radio rollout begins. Digital sales remain minimal.

With the new No. 1, Lil Uzi Vert adds a third Hot Rap Songs leader to their résumé. The artist previously topped the chart as a featured act on Migos’ “Bad and Boujee,” which ruled for 10 weeks in early 2017, and with “Just Wanna Rock,” which held the top spot for three weeks in early 2023.

“What You Saying” is also climbing across multiple Billboard rankings. The track rises from No. 5 to No. 3 on Hot R&B and Hip Hop Songs, jumps from No. 21 to No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 and surges from No. 91 to No. 44 on the Billboard Global 200.

The single continues a strong late 2025 run for Lil Uzi Vert following the November releases “Chanel Boy” and “Relevant.” “Chanel Boy” reached No. 43 on Hot R&B and Hip Hop Songs in December, while “Relevant” peaked two positions lower. Both “Chanel Boy” and “What You Saying” arrived with visually striking music videos inspired by the fashion world, featuring appearances from Marc Jacobs, Law Roach and other notable figures.

“We wanted to imagine an alternate universe where instead of being a rapper, I am a famous fashion designer,” Lil Uzi Vert said in a recent interview with Vogue. “Fashion has always been a huge part of who I am, so it felt natural to bring that into the music and the visuals.”

The recent releases have fueled speculation that a new full length project may be on the way. Lil Uzi Vert’s most recent album, Eternal Atake 2, debuted at No. 2 on the Top Rap Albums chart in November 2024, marking the artist’s sixth consecutive top ten album.
