Miranda Lambert Is Ready to Stir Things Up With Her New Album ‘Crisco’

Country music’s most fearless storyteller is back, and this time she brought a disco ball. Miranda Lambert has officially announced Crisco, her upcoming studio album set to arrive October 2 via MCA Nashville, and if the lead single is any indication, this is shaping up to be the most creatively daring chapter of her career.

The album carries a sound that Lambert herself has described as something she has always wanted to make but never quite put on tape. Co-produced alongside Jesse Frasure, Crisco blends the warm, shimmering textures of ’70s country soul with the rhythmic swagger of disco, nodding to classic crossover moments like Glen Campbell‘s “Southern Nights” and the Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton landmark “Islands in the Stream.” It is country music viewed through a rhinestone lens, and it suits her perfectly.

“There’s a looseness to it, a joy,” Lambert said of the project. “It feels like dancing in your kitchen with the person you love, spinning old records, not overthinking a thing.”

Across 12 tracks, Crisco moves through a wide emotional range. “Snakeskin Boots” taps into mythic cowgirl energy while “Whiskey Business” and “Two Things Can Be True” bring the wit and plainspoken wisdom that have always defined Lambert at her sharpest. On the quieter end, her reading of Jim Croce‘s beloved “I’ll Have to Say I Love You in a Song” signals just how much reverence she has for the songwriting tradition she grew up loving.

The album also carries one of its most anticipated moments in “A Song to Sing,” her Grammy-nominated duet with Chris Stapleton, which marked the biggest streaming debut of Lambert’s career when it was released. The pair have a chemistry that few collaborations in country music can claim, and hearing it in the full context of an album feels like a genuine event.

Lambert built Crisco with a trusted circle of writers, including Natalie Hemby, Ashley Monroe, Waylon Payne, Aaron Raitiere and Josh Osborne. That list reads less like a credits page and more like a gathering of some of Nashville’s finest creative minds, which tracks for an artist who has always treated collaboration as a craft in itself.

The album’s next preview arrives June 26 with “Till the Going’s Gone,” continuing a rollout that has already generated considerable excitement since the title track dropped in May.
