Morgan Wallen Scores Fourth Leader on Country Airplay
Rising Country superstar Morgan Wallen is back on top of the charts for the fourth time in his career. This time with his single “More Than My Hometown”. Most noteworthy, the song rises from the number 2 spot to the top by gaining 11% in audience. In the past week the song has risen to 33 million impressions, reported by Nielsen Music. Furthermore, this single was written by Morgan Wallen and others as the lead single for the 30-song album. The sophomore releases, Dangerous: The Double Album is due out on January 8th, 2021.
It took approximately 26 weeks for the song to make it to the top of the Country Airplay charts. Especially relevant, this is the quickest one or Morgan’s songs have made it to the peak. “Chasin’ You” took 42 weeks to hit the top back in May of this year. “Up Down” featuring Florida Georgia Line took 32 weeks back in June of 2018. Additionally, “Whiskey Glasses” led the chart for three weeks in June 2018 but took 40 weeks to get there. However, Wallen’s first appearance was courtesy of “The Way I Talk” back in May 2017 which made it to number 30 on the chart.
If we are to look at additional metrics for the song we can see that it earned 10.5 million streams. Furthermore, the song has sold 6,000 copies. Morgan Wallen has another song charting well on Country Airplay. “7 Summers” which is also from the forthcoming sophomore effort is sitting at number 25. This song has 6.4 million streams this week which is down 5% from the previous. Additionally, on the Hot Country Songs the chart earns 7.5 million streams and 3,000 copies sold.
