Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide Holds No. 1 on Billboard 200 for Second Week

Noah Kahan continues his chart-topping run as The Great Divide spends a second consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

The album earned 163,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the week ending May 7, according to Luminate. While that total represents a 58 percent drop from its blockbuster debut, it was still enough to keep the set comfortably atop the chart.

The Great Divide also makes history as the first rock album to spend at least two weeks at No. 1 in nearly three years. The last rock release to accomplish the feat was Zach Bryan’s self titled album, which led for multiple weeks in 2023.

Streaming remains the primary driver behind Kahan’s success. Of the album’s 163,000 units, 137,000 came from streaming equivalent albums, representing 139.5 million official on demand streams of its songs. The project also moved 26,000 in traditional album sales, while track equivalent album units accounted for the remainder.

Elsewhere in the top 10, Kacey Musgraves earns her sixth top 10 album as Middle of Nowhere debuts at No. 3. Every one of her top 10 entries has launched inside the top five.

The success of the Michael biopic continues to boost interest in Michael Jackson’s catalog. His landmark album Thriller rises to No. 5, while the compilation Number Ones jumps to No. 6, giving Jackson two albums in the top 10 simultaneously.

Meanwhile, Ella Langley’s former chart topper Dandelion remains strong at No. 2 with 103,000 equivalent album units.

With The Great Divide maintaining its hold on the Billboard 200, Noah Kahan continues to solidify his status as one of the most impactful singer songwriters in today’s music landscape.
