After a decade-long hiatus, *NSYNC fans were treated to a long-awaited reunion at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

The iconic boy band, consisting of Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and Chris Kirkpatrick, graced the stage together for the first time since their memorable 2013 MTV VMA performance. The reunion occurred as they presented the award for Best Pop at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

Joey Fatone expressed their gratitude to MTV and their dedicated fans for supporting music artists over the years. The group’s appearance was met with ecstatic cheers from the audience. They had the honor of presenting Best Pop to Taylor Swift for her music video “Anti-Hero.” Timberlake praised Swift as “unstoppable,” and the singer reciprocated with an emotional hug and even received a friendship bracelet from Lance Bass.

This reunion followed Justin Timberlake’s 2013 Video Vanguard Award performance, which featured a medley of *NSYNC hits. The group previously came together in 2018 for the Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony and in 2019 for a surprise appearance at Ariana Grande’s Coachella headlining set.

Despite their legendary hits like “Bye Bye Bye,” “It’s Gonna Be Me,” and “Girlfriend,” *NSYNC has not released a new album since 2001’s Billboard 200-topping “Celebrity.”
