Olivia Dean Becomes First Woman Since Adele to Top Pop and R&B Radio Charts

Olivia Dean scores a major cross format milestone as “Man I Need” climbs from No. 5 to No. 1 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart dated April 11. The achievement marks the song as the most played track on adult R&B radio stations in the United States during the March 27 to April 2 tracking week, according to Luminate.

With the new No. 1, “Man I Need” earns its third radio chart crown. The single previously led the Pop Airplay chart for six weeks and topped Adult Pop Airplay for three weeks, solidifying its broad appeal across formats. It becomes the first song to rule all three charts since Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control” achieved the feat in 2024.

Among women, Dean is the first to complete this triple chart achievement since Adele’s “Hello” dominated the same formats in 2015 and 2016.

“Man I Need” replaces Tank’s “Control” at the top of Adult R&B Airplay, with the latter dropping to No. 3 after a two week run at No. 1.

The song’s multi format success reflects its wide audience reach. It previously peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has spent 20 weeks and counting inside the top 10. The momentum also helped fuel Dean’s win for Best New Artist at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Elsewhere, “Man I Need” continues to climb across additional radio rankings. It rises 20 to 19 on the R&B Hip Hop Airplay chart with 5 million in audience, up 6 percent week over week, and holds steady at No. 8 on Adult Contemporary.

On the all genre Radio Songs chart, the track remains at No. 2 for a seventh consecutive week and ninth total week in the runner up spot. It previously spent three weeks at No. 1 in February.

With “Man I Need,” Olivia Dean cements her status as one of the most versatile voices in today’s music landscape, bridging pop and R&B audiences with a single breakout hit.
