Roddy Ricch Jumps to Number 1 with ‘The Box’ on Hot 100

Compton rapper Roddy Ricch has earned his first number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after rising from number 3 with his song “The Box”.  This is a great accomplishment for the artist, especially earning bragging rights of surpassing Justin Bieber and his new single “Yummy”. “The Box” was released on Bird Vision/Atlantic Records and is the 1,096^th number 1 in the Hot 100’s 61-year history. Roddy Ricch wrote the track with the song’s producer, 30Roc. Most noteworthy, the 21-year-old Compton MC hits the top spot after its fifth week on the chart. Especially relevant, the song has scored its second week on top of the Streaming Songs chart after a 60% surge up to 68.2 million U.S. streams for the tracking week. The single currently holds the top spot on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap songs chart simultaneously for the second week.
