ROSÉ Opens Up About BLACKPINK’s Next Album and the Group’s Future

ROSÉ is sharing new insight into BLACKPINK’s long-awaited return, offering details about the group’s upcoming mini-album and how the members would handle it if one of them ever chose to step away.

Appearing on the Jan. 28 episode of Call Her Daddy, the Grammy nominee discussed Deadline, BLACKPINK’s first group release since 2022’s Born Pink. The project follows the quartet’s reunion last year after a brief hiatus in 2024, during which JISOO, JENNIE, ROSÉ and LISA focused on solo ventures.

“It’s an album that we’ve all kind of come back from after that year of exploring and all being our individual selves,” ROSÉ told host Alex Cooper. “It was really interesting to return and see what was created after that. I really love all the songs.”

She highlighted lead single “Jump,” released in July, and teased an upcoming collaboration that expands on the track’s energy. “It feels like ‘Jump,’ but it’s so different,” she said. “It’s a big, funky mixture of all these things, but somehow it works. I’m really excited for the fans to hear it.”

BLACKPINK debuted in 2016 under YG Entertainment and maintained a relentless release and touring schedule before stepping back in recent years. The group ultimately re-signed their contracts ahead of their 2025 reunion.

When asked what would happen if one member no longer wanted to continue with the group, ROSÉ emphasized mutual respect and trust. “If one of us feels like that’s not the right thing at that time, then we’re all in understanding,” she said. “BLACKPINK is only four members. We can’t neglect anyone’s decision at any point in their life.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, ROSÉ recalled receiving career advice from Taylor Swift at a party and reflected on her initial reaction to her stage name before debut. “I freaked out,” she admitted. “I thought it sounded like a grandma name. But once I saw it written out, I realized it looked really cool.”

BLACKPINK’s Deadline mini-album is expected to arrive later this year, marking the group’s official return following their global tour last summer.
