Being a musician is a dream job for some. However, creating a sustainable career that produces adequate income is not so simple. As we watch major artists release music, one thing is prevalent. Song Release Strategies: The Basics

When figuring out song release strategies it is important to identify a single. Which song do you plan on promoting? What avenues and platforms do you intend on spreading your music on? Check these boxes and you’re good to go. For the sake of this article we will be looking at promoting via the most popular channels.

Promoting a song without a visual representation in the current climate should be a no-go. Unless a musician’s song release strategies are to rely strictly on SoundCloud and Spotify, a video is a must! However, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a full-on music video. As mentioned previously on our blog, lyric videos are the perfect visual representation for your song. If a lyric video isn’t your thing, perhaps an audio visualizer will provide the visual that you need. At the very minimum any musician should be able to put the resources together for some type of visual.

After you have decided on the visual representation for your song release strategies – it is time to promote. A major part of artist growth right now is working with curators and influencers. Taste makers can get your music in playlists on networks such as YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud. Network and get in the mix as much as possible.
