Taylor Swift Only Artist to Sell 2 Million in Last 2 Years

Taylor Swift can finally celebrate her sixth album to sell 2 million copies in the United States. Reputation, Swift’s latest release reached the milestone in the week ending in March 15th. According to Nielsen Music, the album sold another 5,000 copies bringing the total to just over 2 million records sold. As a result, this is the only album that has been released in the last two years to sell 2 million copies in the U.S. When Reputation launched it sold 1.216 million copies in its first week.

Prior to Reputation, the most recent album that reached this milestone of 2 million sold was Adele’s 25. That album arrived on November 20th, 2015. However, it hit the 2 million sold mark after only three days. In total, 25 sold 3.38 million in its first week and has sold 9.45 million copies through March 15th.

Taylor Swift Dominates the Music Industry

To give you a bit of context on how dominant Taylor Swift is in the music industry, let’s take a look elsewhere. In all of 2017, only two albums sold more than a million copies. Reputation and Ed Sheeran’s Divide. That is quite the contrast compared to 10 years prior when 29 albums sold at least 1 million. Eight of those albums surpassed 2 million. Because of this, industry experts are not surprised. Consider that since the year 2001, album sales have steadily declined on a year to year basis. Only 2011 is an exception to this. In 2017, 166.3 million total albums were sold. In 2007, over 500 million. How about 1997? An incredible 790 million!

Taylor Swift is no stranger to success. In fact, all six of Taylor’s studio albums have now sold at least 2 million copies. Reputation was able to reach the 2 million milestone in under 19 weeks since its release. займы онлайн на карту срочно
