Taylor Swift is back at the top of the Billboard 200 as The Life of a Showgirl surges from No. 21 to No. 1 following the release of its expanded The Encore edition.
The album earned 173,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the week ending Oct. 1, according to Luminate, marking its 13th nonconsecutive week at No. 1. The set previously last occupied the summit on the Jan. 10, 2026 dated chart. Swift released The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore on Sept. 25, adding four previously unreleased tracks to the original album: “Patient Zero,” “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon.” All editions of The Life of a Showgirl are combined for Billboard charting purposes. The expanded release gave the album a major boost in consumption, with its weekly total increasing 619% from the previous frame. Streaming drove much of the resurgence, accounting for approximately 78% of the album’s latest activity. Of its 173,000 units, 136,000 came from streaming equivalent album units, representing 138.79 million official on demand streams of the album’s songs. The project consequently jumps from No. 17 to No. 1 on the Top Streaming Albums chart for its eighth week at the summit. Album sales contributed another 21,000 units, rising 1,529% as Showgirl reenters the Top Album Sales chart at No. 5. Track equivalent album units accounted for an additional 16,000, increasing by more than 11,000% from the previous week. The Encore edition is currently available through streaming services and digital download, with no physical version contributing to its latest chart week. “Patient Zero” has served as the centerpiece of the renewed era. Swift premiered its cinematic music video during the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 27, where she also received the inaugural Artist Director Honors. The visual stars Swift alongside Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell. The original version of The Life of a Showgirl debuted at No. 1 in October 2025 with a record breaking 4.002 million equivalent album units, giving Swift her 15th Billboard 200 leader. Its latest return extends one of the strongest commercial runs of her career nearly a full year after the album first arrived. Elsewhere in the latest Billboard 200 top 10, Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love rises to No. 2 with 67,000 equivalent album units, boosted by the launch of her The Unraveled Tour. Ella Langley’s Dandelion moves to No. 3, while Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem remains at No. 4 and Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide climbs to No. 5. Tinashe earns a major career milestone at No. 6 as Popstar debuts with 35,500 units, becoming her first Billboard 200 top 10 album. Kenny Chesney follows at No. 7 with Silver Sands Marina, marking his 17th top 10 entry. Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving, Kahan’s Stick Season and Drake’s ICEMAN complete the top 10. With The Life of a Showgirl now spending 13 weeks at No. 1, Swift has once again extended the life of an already massive album through new material. Nearly a year after its record setting debut, The Encore has successfully brought the curtain back up and returned the project to the top of the Billboard 200.
