The Weeknd Debuts 5 Songs in Top 10
The Weeknd just released his new album and debuts 5 songs in the Top 10 of the On-Demand Streaming Songs Chart. It’s the first time any act has debuted at least five songs in the top 10 at the same time since Kendrick Lamar did it in 2017. My Dear Melancholy, The Weeknd’s Billboard 200 topping album is led by the single, “Call Out My Name”. The album debuted at number 1 on the April 14th dated list with over 32 million on demand audio streams.
As a result, The Weeknd becomes the first artist to debut five songs simultaneously in the top 10. Kendrick Lamar had eight songs debut on the same chart in early May of 2017. All of those songs were from Kendrick’s album DAMN., which also reached the top of the Billboard 200 that same week.
Songs charting after “Call Out My Name” are, “Try Me” and “Wasted Times” which debut respectively at numbers 3 and 4. Because of their charting positions, the songs saw 21.3 and 19.6 million on demand audio streams. However, the pair of Gesaffelstein-featuring songs on the EP, “I Was Never There” saw 17.7 million streams and debuted at number 7. The song “Hurt You” was streamed 14.9 million times and debuted at number 9.
The Weeknd: No Stranger to the Top 10
This is the third time that The Weeknd has been able to land at least five songs in the top 5 of On-Demand Streaming Songs simultaneously. However, it is the first time that the songs are debuts. In December of 2016, six songs of his were in the top 10 with “Star boy” leading the pack. As a result of being number 1, the song saw 20.4 million streams followed by 17.4 million the next week.
It should be noted that three of the new songs also made the top 10 of Streaming Songs. This accounts for all U.S. streams, not just those from on-demand audio services. All six songs from the EP debut on the Billboard Hot 100, led by “Call Out My Name” at number 4. онлайн займ
